Artifacts from EEND680C

This class was an empowering but challenging one. The class focuses on educational leadership. I have inquired about educational leadership roles, but I was never sure they were for me. I enjoy the students. I enjoy the autonomy of my classroom. I enjoy the creativity needed to rethink up new ideas for lessons.  The most rewarding artifact from this course was the capstone project. We had to create an initiative that our district would benefit from. I chose to initiate a plan to have students stop and silently read (SSR) for one hour every Wednesday. For the capstone, we had to think like educational leaders. We had to research the demographics or the district to create the need for our initiative, we had to create a board proposal, we had to create a faculty email and meeting, we had to create an entire institute day, we had to collect data and scholarly articles on the topic, as well as create potential data collections.  It was amazing to see how much work adds an ini...

Artfacts from EEND679A

As I reflect on what I learned in EEND679A: Assess and Implement student achievement with technology, I can say I gained much. In this class, we learned about current assessment tools that teachers are using to enhance technology in learning in their classrooms. I learned about padlet, wakelet, gimkit, rubristar, and more! Our discussions in class were always helpful. I love finding out what other teachers are doing and what works for kids.   As we descend from the pandemic, I want to try and get my students off of technology as much as possible. However, taking this course allowed me to see how it can enhance the classroom at times and make it more fun! For example, I teach sophomore vocabulary words, that have Greek roots. They have a workbook and tests every other week. Boring stuff, right? I try my best to give them activities and display the word walls, so make the vocabulary fun and prepare them for the tests. But after I discovered Gim kit, the rest is history! Th...

Artifacts from EEND 667C

I really enjoyed taking Multimedia Tools in education. I have to say the most rewarding concept that I took away from this class was using the loom app. I had heard about teenagers using it in the past, and it sounded cool, but it was too overwhelming to introduce new technology during the 2020-21 school year. One of the assignments we had to do in multimedia tools and education was to create a loom lesson plan.   I created a loom about a personal story of (my dad's) experience in Vietnam. I was able to show a picture of my dad while he was in the Vietnam War and tell his story at the same time. This artifact is incredibly functional for remote students. I'm not sure how useful it will be now that we are back in the classroom, but I think showing another teacher how to do something or helping my student teacher using a loom will be quite helpful. Another artifact I created for multimedia tools and education was a website! Our assignment was to have students continually blog wi...
